BIHARSHARIF: The incident of kidnapping in Nalanda is increasing day by day. During the last one month, as many as 13 people were kidnapped which include businessmen, engineers, doctors and students. Out of these 13, six have been recovered, six are traceless and one has been done to death.
A dealer of hume pipe factory, Birjnandan Prasad, had been kidnapped on March 25 near the Bhaganbigha out post while he was returning to his residence.
In this case, three have been taken into custody for interrogation.
Samata Party chief whip and Nalanda MLA Shrawan Kumar has written to governor Vinod Chandra Pandey to take steps to prevent the recurring incidents of kidnapping in Nalanda. Kumar alleged that the incidents of kidnapping apparently have the backing of the ruling RJD government and that is why the police in the state fail to take action against the culprits.
On March 16, one Anuj Kumar of Malamen village under the Sarmera police station was kidnapped. Later, the dead body of Anuj Kumar was found in the field of Tirukutwa of same police station. On March 13, Parmanand Singh of village Kenirpur under the Bind police station was kidnapped, but he managed to escape on March 21.
On that very day, a dealer of auto parts, Pappu of Laheri locality, was kidnapped. He is still traceless. On March 11, two persons, including a teacher, were kidnapped. In Rajgir, one Sanjay, who was running a school, was taken hostage. In Islampur, the son of one Sadhu Sharan of Deendayal Ganj village was abducted. He was later released. A primary school teacher Kabindra Paswan of Aungari was kidnapped. A mukhiya and his munshi, Upendra Prasad and Ashok respectively, were kidnapped in Asthawar. On March 18, a tractor driver, Shyamlal of Islampur was held captive, but was later released.
DIG (Central range) Ravindra Kumar visited Biharsharif on March 28 and took account of the increasing trend of kidnapping in Nalanda.
